Good start to the season. I don't remember anything that happened last year aside from Shane killing Lem, but they did a good job sucking me back in. Looks like Whitiker is the Big Bad this year (his character was very grey last year), though it'll also be interesting to see where the mass murder plot goes--Dutch's season-long find-the-killer arcs are usually just as good as the main Vic storylines.

Who knew the Commish would turn out to be soo bad.

Great start and setup for season 6. The pacing and narrative on this show always amazes me. There are so many characters and subplots, but I'm rarely confused or feel out of the loop...even after being away from it for a year.

I'm wondering how long Forrest Whitaker will be sticking around (small spoiler alert ahead). Seems pretty obvious that Dutch is gonna catch him in his lie and foil the whole plan to use the CI's perjury to frame Vic. I just wonder with Whitaker's film work and recent oscar win if his exit might be sooner than later.

Whitaker will be around for the whole season. U see him plantin' that evidence?

Season ending predictions: (1, 2, or 3; you choose)

1) Dutch figures out that Shane did it, and then Vic finds out, and he then shoots Shane in the head.

2) Vic figures out that Shane did it, and then he shoots Shane in the head.

3) And ok, one oddball--the guy with the beard who never talks, finds out that Shane did it, then both he and Vic shoot Shane in the head.

What a great show. Like the 'Pranos, I know what's coming, but I don't care. It's all about how they get there.

Dutch is a key part to the show. He is there for comic relief for Vic, but he knows that Dutch is a smart guy and will have his back if he needs it.

Whats up w/ that former Capt being pussy? he bumped his head? wtf? Vic got shot in the arm!

God damn I love this show. spoilers ahead:

Watching Forrest Whitaker confess to setting up Vic was excellent....and now I'm getting the feeling that Shane might confess to Lem's killing a helluva alot sooner than we thought.

it was quite odd because of his laughter, almost as if he was going mad.
he still keeps his composure and taunts Vic behind bars.
this is a complex character.....

Writer: Kavanaugh turning into a dirty cop, I can sink my teeth into this. This is going to be a great story arc!
Producer: Forest's contract is up after the next episode and he we couldn't get him to renew.
Writer: We'll have him confess, it'll be great!

A little ironic in light of Dutch's whole speech about the inverse of Occam's razor (can't remember the name of the other philosopher he referred to). Maybe that was a little inside joke by the writers... knowing that they had to rap up the whole Kavanaugh arc in 2 episodes. Yes it was quick, but if they had to do it quick (which I suspect they did because of Whitaker's contract and/or Oscar win)...that was a pretty logical out.

I actually thought this episode was the best fucking ever! So fucking intense. I loved it when Vic's wife called out Kavanaugh. I was grinning from ear to ear. You really see how Dutch and Claudette are just about the only two characters who are genuine in the department minus the chick who had Vics kid and gay black married guy.

Love this show. So sad that we won't get to see any more Tony Soprano or Vic Mackey after this spring.

Shield is coming back for one more season. Here's hoping they don't spread the rest of the story too thin like Lost or Sopranos have (though both of those shows having been back at the top of their games lately)

did you know that in France, Canal + ( a french tvchannel) is airing 2 episodes from season 6 a week (i wonder how much they paid). SO that we ve already seen 5 episodes. Usually we get to see american tv shows a year after you ( or for popular show as Lost 2 months after the finale). Last year i torrented the fifth season and was so excited to see a new episode a week (note that i still download it, not having Canal +). Now i feel spoiled since there are only 5 episodes left or so. I guess i ll never be happy. Anyway, my point is i thought it could be nice to have a Shield thread, but now i am guessing that i wont be participating as much as i want unless i tell you about the episodes to come which would be pretty nasty, so yeah, i wont do that.

Am I crazy, or have the Rescue Me promos been the most exciting part of this season's episodes so far?

Rescue Me promo's are fun but yes you are crazy if you think those promo's are more exciting that what's been happening on the shield. This may be the best season yet!

Mara is a crazy bitch. She enjoys the fact that Shane is messed up and really gets off on the fact that she knows Shane's secrets and Vic doesnt

I'm reading that as more of an empathy thing. She's not crazy. They love eachother and he's helpless because he knows he fucked up big time but she understands that all of them would have been fucked up forever if Lem got forced into a deal. She believes Shane and she feels she needs to take care of him now as he always did for her and the family despite him being a scumbag at times.

i won't disagree w/ you, but the look on her face when shane says "vic doesnt know, nobody knows".... that look said a lot.
i was perhaps too harsh earlier. It feels like Mara has been envious of the longest time of Shane's love for Vic, but maybe now she feels more strong that she gets to be Shane's rock and that he trusts her more than Vic

but regardless, you can't deny that there is something wrong w/ her. If your spouse sleeps w/ someone who is 18, then comes forward saying they blew someone up w/ a grenade. it seems you should be afraid of them

Shane sure had an ugly turn last nite. Geez, it goes back to a previous season where once he married Mara, he became like this.

i am digging the new Strike team. It's interesting to see Julian learn the ropes since he was on the straight & narrow in the uniform (no pun intended)

Alright so i've downloaded and watched the rest of the season and only have the finale to watch which is already on my computer. I also read great GREAT news. THE SHIELD WILL BE BACK FOR ONE MORE SEASON!!

This has probably been the best season to date. So much tension and drama. This show is much better than the Sopranoes at this point, it looks like it delivers on a much larger scale.

Will Dutch get to bang Tina? HAHAHAHA Just wait til you see episode 9!! I felt bad for the guy big time with the trick that was played on him. I'm not giving anything away but this season fucking rocks. It's a total of 10 episodes.

Vic taught Shane everything Shane knows, but I think Vic still has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Very true, vic has taught Shane a lot, but remember when Shane was trying to run things w/ Antwan Mitchell, he got waaay over his head.

the episode where Aceveda takes one in the mouth was the moment i realized FX is so graphic, it puts HBO to shame

i can't believe shane gave the money train up. season finale looks like it is going to be great.

The finale rocks!!!! It was about an hour and ten minutes without commercials. Holy shit is this show topping the Soprano's this season or what? I'm glad they are coming back for another. So fucking intense. Great final episode.
