Razorblade Suitcase II.

QUOTE
According to The Pulse of Radio, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and former VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland told satellite shock jock Howard Stern on Wednesday morning (April 23) that he is currently working on his second solo album with producer Steve Albini for a November release. Weiland was joined on the call by NO DOUBT drummer Adrian Young, who is also playing on the record. A release date and title have yet to be revealed. Weiland's first solo effort, "12 Bar Blues", was issued in 1998.

I'm actually looking forward to this album. I really enjoyed Scott Weiland's first one.

I will give it a listen for sure, but man, he was a bit of a mess on Stern the other day. "Uhhhhh.....uhhhhhh....you know......uhhhhhh". Clearly the drugs have taken a toll.
If Weiland actually makes it that far, STP are playing at the Caesar's casino in Indiana in August, the SAME night as My Morning Jacket in Louisville.

MMJ wins that battle easily for me, but I really would have been curious to see STP. One of my friends joked that I could slip over to the STP show during one of MMJ's guitar solos and still make it back without missing much.

I recall he ripped off a Girls Against Boys song on his debut. It was lawsuit-worthy, but nothing ever came of it.

Steve Albini has never been particularly choosy about his projects, it's a job and he's always acknowledged that. His engineering made Razorblade Suitcase sound more interesting, I suppose, but not necessarily good.

He's also said in interviews that he charges based on the artist, label, etc., so I'm sure he'll be gouging the crap out of Weiland.

Albini's smart enough to realize that you have to record shitty muscians with money from time to time to finance more interesting projects.

I really hope you mean "AOY" to mean something other than it's common usage.
This sounds like that Fred Schneider album Albini produced. The Bowie aping is hilarious.

Weiland was in studio today on Howard Stern with his album's producer...Doug Grean. According to Blabbermouth, Albini recorded just a few select tracks.
Is the above link for the 2CD deluxe edition or the single dic release?

The hooks didn't really sink in on first listen, but there are some really good songs here..,"Blind Confusion" is great.
The cover of "Fame" is really ill-advised though. Not even a great Bowie song anyway in my opinion.
Between "uh"'s and "you knows" on Stern yesterday he compared himself to Bowie during his LA period. Pretty good interview despite his constant hemming and hawing--clearly the drugs have taken a toll. I'll always be at least somewhat interested in what he does though. He missed a couple of notes but did a pretty damn nice performance of "Killing Me Sweetly" on Stern...definite "Sour Girl" vibe, not a bad thing.

Man, I think this album is beyond awful - even without the cringe-inducing "Fame" cover...and I couldn't be a bigger supporter of 12 Bar Blues.
Edit: that said, I think I still might see him on his Chicago stop - Weiland is still a cool dude frontman...

Could not get into this. I had higher hopes for this record. The songs are boring. And yes, he is aping. I hope the next STP album isn't this awful.
