saw these guys tonight as i've been loving '59 Sound... they're the real fucking deal
super super tight live band who appear to be pretty young (early to mid 20's). pretty sure they'll be signed in the next 6 months.

this is the biggest Springsteen rip off i've ever heard.
and its awsome.
The 59' Sound accoustic version sounds like it could belong on Nebraska.

yeah, seriously into this thing right about now... love how they embrace the Springsteen influence and in the the lyrics to that one song, "at nite i wake up with sheets soaking wet and i think you know the rest" or something like that.
whoa... they are playing tomorrow nite at The Congress with Rise Against and Alkaline Trio.

I saw that, too.
I think seeing them in a smaller venue would be >>> seeing them in a shit venue surrounded by smelly punk kids.
I shall hold out and stick to my 'go see the Melvins' plan, instead.

totally.
they wear their influences on their sleeves proudly, but damn if it doesn't sound totally authentic & heartfelt. it's textbook rock n roll played extremely well.

I thought that too, but then forgot to look it up to see if I was right. Not a Bosstones fan at all, but backing singalong vocals in small doses is the perfect use for the guy. I love that part of the song.

Good album. Not as good as New Wave or Sam's Town in my opinion, mainly because those albums changed things up a bit more than this one did. There are a few standout songs here but the others all sound pretty similar.

My roommate downloaded one yesterday. He's hooked on these guys, too. Been IM'ing me all morning about how good these songs are. And he's not wrong.
I'll see if I can get it off of him and up it tonight if noone else does.
Really awesome catchy straight up Rock N' Roll!! My buddy turned me onto these guys less than a week ago and its been in heavy rotation since!! Anyone seen these guys live??

They opened last night for Thrice/Alkaline Trio and the headliner Rise Against
My opinion - They are a solid live band. Really good, however, I have to put my two cents and say I don't really like the overly sentimental lyrics that feel somewhat underdeveloped to me. The energy and vocals of Bruce Sprinsteen are definately there though. I don't know how receptive the mostly punk audience was to them, but I sensed a lot of applause. I personally enjoyed the show, and probably enjoyed them more so because of how out of place they seemed.
P.S. - I don't really like punk rock anymore, my friend dragged me to the show.

The Gaslight Anthem's "High Lonesome", from the new album that a few of us have been digging on in another thread, has a couple of good ones - the chorus references the Counting Crows:
"Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand - I always kinda sorta wished I looked like Elvis"
that's where that is from... it's been killing me trying to place those lines.
Strange to see Pitchfork endorse such wanky Springsteen fanboyism (again).
