Meh, it's a list by British Indie record label, it's unlikely to chime with the lists of many on here.
Chicken Invaders!
Bon Iver is 2007 anyway.

eh, I actually like quite a few of those. TVOTR and Shearwater in particular.

17 of those will likely be on my 50.

Not a fan of that list. But seeing as I'm me, I won't be a fan of many lists.

These. I enjoyed these albums. Not sure if they will all make my end of the year list, but these will definitely be considered. Not a band list. I hadn't listened to a bunch of the albums they mentioned though.

Seems weird that it has a lot of average American stuff (Of Montreal, Kings of Leon, The Dodos, Vampire Weekend) but misses some of the best UK stuff (Elbow, The Week That Was, Frightened Rabbit, Laura Marling, Glasvegas) are they on the wrong label?

Amazon's "list" is up: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=...mp;pf_rd_i=5174

Amazon's top five is out of control.

1. Kings of Leon - Only by the Night
2. Santogold - Santagold
3. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
4. Al Green - Lay It Down
5. Adele - 19

A very unexpected, unpredictable list. I like it.

How does Saturdays=Youth not make it on there?

According to Amazon, Scarlett Johansson's album is the 91st best album of the year. Truer words have never been spoken.

I have, a welcome surprise.

The Rough Trade list always good for surprises but at the inclusion of other worthy albums no doubt.

It's nowhere close to as good as their previous two albums.

As for James, I can't understand how these guys fly so far under the SOMB radar. You'd think they'd earned at least a passing interest with one of the single greatest pop-rock songs of the last 20 years.
This new record has another handful of gems. "Waterfall" would be ubiquitous were it the new Coldplay single.

Top 10 signs that your magazine's top 10 list is an attempt at branding rather than an honest evaluation of the music:
1) You rate "Feed the Animals" 85 spots higher than you rated "Night Ripper" (http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2007/01/pastes-top-100-albums-of-2006.html)

Up from #13 for Night Ripper (http://soundbites.typepad.com/soundbites/2006/12/best_of_2006_bl.html)

Seriously, does anyone think this is a better album than Night Ripper, or is it just that Girl Talk is more popular now?

Also,

1. Lil' Wayne, Tha Carter III

This could be the second Top 10 sign...I think a lot of people decided this would be in their top 10 before they heard it. It's a good album, and has some great moments, but it's way too watered down to be a number one, and it isn't his best work. Putting this album top 3 is branding pure and simple (EDIT: But I'm sure that won't stop Pitchfork).

Lastly, these aren't even remotely reasonable:

Quite true Brobee.
I just put together my end of the year mix CD which I give to a bunch of people. Most of these people are around my age and certainly not as invested in new music as myself. The set list would look very pedestrian to other Sombies.
