Of all of the beers I have tried, I think my favorite is Oberon. It's just a terrific taste. All of my friends have their own opinions, and everyone has their own favorite beer. What do you guys like? I enjoy getting a case of shitty beer for my guests, but a nice six pack of Oberon for myself.

Cold Hoegaarden on a hot summer afternoon.
Boddington's. It's damn good all the time. Perfect if you want something guinessy but aren't up for a darky.
Guiness if you just want something guinessy.
Sam Adams light if you're watching your carbs but love the shit out of beer.
Michelob ultra if you're in a bar, don't really love beer, and want to do sit-ups.
Goose Island Honkers christmas ale in about a month for me. Back to Chicago, enjoying local fantasticness with cool cats in the ole stompin grounds.
That Oberon sounds tastey. I'll keep my eye open.

Totally.
But why is it that the only Leiny to have ventured outside of the midwest seems to be sunset wheat? That fruity weirdness is good sometimes, but it usually just makes me sad that the bar doesn't have more Leinenkuegel selection. A friend smuggled a bunch of the octoberfest out of wisconsin last month and we drank it on a boat near Catalina while listening to Marty Robbins on repeat. It was glorious.

I bought a sixer of Sunset Wheat thinking it might taste like, well, wheat. Why did it taste like raspberries?
Used to get Leiny when I went to Ashland, Wi - I love a good local brewery. Grew up with one (Hudepohl-Schoenling) which Sam Adams bought and made into a fucking bottling plant. Life has never been the same since those beautiful 7 oz. bottles of Little Kings' Cream Ale went away.

There was a
long article in the New Yorker that I just got today that centered around the Dogfish Head brewery (and was specifically about something called "extreme beers", whatever the fuck that means). I finished reading it and was thinking I haven't had one of their IPAs in a while, so I went out to the corner store and bought some 60 minute IPA. Good beer.

I've only had Spotted Cow like twice. I will need to remember to buy cases of it next time I find myself in that dreaded state of WI.

I have no one favorite beer. It really depends on the season and my mood. If really pressed, my favorite might be any of the following: Bell's Two-Hearted IPA, Three Floyd's Dreadnaught, Goose Island Imperial IPA, and Dogfishhead 90-minute IPA. I'm still pretty partial to very hoppy beers, as you can tell, although my tastes are starting to shift a little more towards malty brews. Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock is particularly good with this cold weather. I've also always had a soft spot in my heart for Samuel Adams brews, especially the Honey Porter. Samuel Adams is what started me on my love of beer back in 1994 or so, and I will forever love that brewery for introducing me to good beer.

I've switched to pints of this after years of faithful devotion to Harp/Guinness - I think its tough on Lynard's Innards, though - most mornings after bending my elbow with a few pints of Allagash I find myself spraying like a grumpy skunk. I was bummed to learn that Larry Bell recently cancelled Eccentric Day, which is always the first Saturday after Thanksgiving weekend. That's the Bells holiday spectacular where they always taps his most famous (or infamous) seasonal experiment, Eccentric Ale. The drunken debauchery always started at about 9 am, and lasted until 2 am. But last year things got out of hand and there was apparently quite a bit of property damage. Bummer, that was always an insane party.
